Kuala Lumpur isn’t just the city that never sleeps, but also the one that never stops brunching. Take a look around; at the hottest corners of the city, a brunch spot will always be full to the brim during peak hours, simply because of our evident zeal for mid-day munching.

Now what makes a good brunch place? On top of great grubs, the concept and decor play pivotal roles in offering a memorable experience for brunch hunters. The Botanist ticks the boxes for us.

Located within Park Royal Collection Kuala Lumpur, the restaurant is a brand new addition to the establishment. Located at the heart of the city, The Botanist currently offers a wide range of mocktails and delectable food selections.

THE AMBIENCE

We fell in love with the ‘botanic’ concept of the restaurant. Surrounded by concrete jungle, it’s always refreshing to have a little green corner as a relaxing retreat spot.

The decor felt like we were transported to 1970s-1980s Miami, a nostalgic era we didn’t live through but somehow understand the appeal.

WHAT WE TRIED

Their main attraction is their unique line of mocktails. What caught our tastebuds the most was the Pacific Dragon, possibly named after their parent company Pan Pacific, is a mix of dragon fruit, passion fruit and other secret ingredients ideal for a refreshing thirst quencher after walking under the KL sun for a bit.

Their other mocktails are sublime as well, which makes sense why they’re confident in making them one of their main products for the restaurant. The thought put in every dash of ingredients can be felt and tasted in every sip.

Moving on to food, our team tried a number of dishes that are as great as the presentation. Vibrant in colour, we took a bite out of their salmon tandoori tacos. The charcoal tandoori touch adds depth into the taste of the salmon, wrapped in bread that balances the intense taste of the two with a citrus taste of lime at the end. The star of the show, for sure!

However, we couldn’t get our eyes off the angus beef rendang and lemang, a close contender to the tandoor tacos. The meat melts in your mouth together with the rendang made the lemang combination brought us back to pagi raya. Top quality angus beef meat cooked in rendang style? Made us wish that Joe Flizzow was right about hari-hari being hari raya.

Is The Botanist a good place to chill at? Definitely. In the middle of a busy Kuala Lumpur, The Botanist made itself at home as a premier destination for brunches, coffee time or just a chill lepak sesh with friends, colleagues or clients.
