Croatian Fashion Designer Launches Collection Of ‘Cheerful’ Masks
If you're sick wear a mask!
That's the mantra this Covid-19 season.
Most masks, however, come in the standards colors and one Croatian fashion designer sat down one day and thought "why?"
According to a report by AFP, the designer Zoran Aragovic believed that masks should not only protect but should be fashionable too.
This pushed him to launch his very own 'cheerful' collection of masks.
A spontaneous creation
"The idea for a designer mask was spontaneous. Every morning while having coffee, we were commenting on the coronavirus and lack of masks."
"I was joking that I would make a colourful, cheerful mask, like my fashion creations, and put it on my Instagram," said Zoran, who is the owner of the BiteMyStyle brand.
Aragovic's masks are made out of cotton and includes various artsy designs including Disney characters, pop art and comic books.
The masks, priced at €9 (RM42), were a hit in his home country and he said that orders were still pouring in.
As for how effective cotton masks are, we know it helps with dust and all, but we'll probably stick with the plain ol' masks when sick.
WHO recommendations
Answering the question of weather healthy people should wear masks to protect themselves, the World Health Organization (WHO) says 'No'."Only wear a mask if you are ill with COVID-19 symptoms (especially coughing) or looking after someone who may have COVID-19. Disposable face mask can only be used once. If you are not ill or looking after someone who is ill then you are wasting a mask. There is a world-wide shortage of masks, so WHO urges people to use masks wisely," writes WHO on their website.
They go on to say that the most effective way to protect yourself against Covid-19 is to regularly wash your hands.
