Have you ever noticed the fun and creative doodles you see on google.com.my on certain occasions throughout the year?

This is an initiative by Google to celebrate special occasions, cultural moments, and the lives of pioneers, scientists, musicians, and artists around the world who have who have helped shape history.

Today, Google designs hundreds of doodles around the world every year.

And this time, Google Malaysia is giving you a chance to design your own Google Doodle and get it featured on the search engine’s homepage!

The Doodle 4 Google (#D4GMY) has returned for the second time in conjunction with Merdeka and Malaysia Day this year.

Last year's winning Google Doodle.
The theme for this year is “Celebrating Malaysia’s Diversity”, so submit the most unique doodles with a Malaysian twist.

However, this contest is only open to Malaysian primary and secondary school students. So for those who are only young at heart, maybe you can display your doodles on Instagram (or you can just help your kids or younger siblings with their designs).

There are four categories according to age groups: 7-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-17.

The winner will be featured on the front and centre of google.com.my this Malaysia Day, 16 September.

The Doodle 4 Google competition starts today (Thursday) and the last day for submission is at midnight, 31 July.

This is a very rare opportunity because Google Doodles are usually created by the tech giant’s own creative team. So hurry up and head on to events.withgoogle.com/d4gmy for more information on how to participate!
