Drinking can be fun but one must ensure that they drink responsibly and not forget their surroundings.

Unfortunately, a 78-year-old man threw all caution to the wind when he consumed five bottles of beer in a bar in Thailand and proceeded to ride his motorbike back home.

In his drunken condition, Dutch pensioner named Franciscus Johannes van Rossum did not reach his home. Instead, he ended up getting lost in a forest!

Not a smart move

According to a report in Metro UK, Johannes van Rossum’s wife, Ratchata Chanwichit, 61, suspected something amiss when he didn’t return home.

When calls to his mobile phone went unanswered, she went to the pub he had his drinks, only to be told that he had already left.

Fearing the worst, she waited for more development and heaved a huge sigh of relief when he called the next morning.

Her husband said he'd gotten lost in the Khong Ta Bang forest during a storm.

"I was trying to call him on the night he was last seen, but he did not answer, so I went to the bar, and he wasn't there.

"I received a call from him on September 1, early in the morning, saying he rode into the forest but he did not know the exact coordinates where he was,” she was quoted as saying.

Ratchata immediately alerted the authorities and a search team started looking for Johannes van Rossum.

He was lost for four days

That doesn't look very comfortable
Four days later, locals found Johannes van Rossum’s motorbike on the outskirts of the forest.

Authorities found him at 11pm. He was reportedly sleeping in a puddle of water covered in mosquito bites.

"I thought I was going to die.

"My phone battery was dead, my motorcycle had run out of gas, and it was raining. There was nothing to eat.

“I was so relieved when I heard the local people.

"They saved my life. I'm so happy to be safe and see my wife again."

Hope the incident will encourage him and others to drink responsibly!
