Four Non-Touristy, Not-So-Mainstream Things You Should Do In Tokyo
Planning a trip to Tokyo, Japan? Good choice, as you'll have one of the most complete holiday experiences in Tokyo.
On one hand, you'll get to experience the old Japan by visiting centuries-old castles and shrines, and the other, you'll get to experience the nightlife that makes Tokyo one of the most appealing tourist destinations in the world.

Don't worry, because we're here to help! We've listed down some of the coolest, not-so-touristy activities you need to do.
So, if you're sick and tired of the usual things people tell you to do when you're in Tokyo, why not check out these activities instead:
What better way to see Tokyo then driving around in a go-kart, right? Street Go Karting has become a big thing in Japan, with tourists opting to check out interesting places around Tokyo while zipping around in a little go-kart. It's incredible fun too, as some go-kart operators would also include costume rentals. Just remember to get a copy of your international driving license before you zip around, 'kay?
If you're one of those people who prefer used books (because used books add character), then you should definitely go book hunting at the Jimbocho Book Town. The book town is located along the alleys of Yasukuni-Dori and Hakusan-Dori streets. When you're there, you'll be amazed at the collection of used and new books, as well as a wide range of Japanese art books, antique maps and woodblock prints dating back to the Edo period.
Yep, you heard us right. Anime lovers and techies alike have been flocking to the sacred Kanda Myojin Shrine (or better known as the Anime Shrine) to bless their gadgets. You'll also see a lot of anime fans drawing their favourite anime characters and hanging them up on the grounds of the shrine. You could also get yourself a talisman to protect your electronic devices. So, if you're always dropping your phone, you need to check out this shrine.
Sure, you have to check out Disneyland Tokyo, but why not go back in time and have fun at an old school Japanese amusement park instead? Located at Asakusa, the Hanayashiki Amusement Park has been around since 1853, making it the oldest amusement park in Japan! You'll find some amazing rides, a mini petting zoo and a traditional flower park. Go back in time and make your inner child happy at this amusement park.
