For Fucke's Sake: Residents Of Swedish Village Wants Name Changed Because They Keep Getting Censored Online
We are pretty sure you've come across a pretty peculiar-sounding name for a neighbourhood or town.
The residents of this one village in Sweden, however, decided that they can't take the name of their town anymore and they want to change it.
Tired of being censored

According to Sweden's STV, the villagers have reportedly sent an application to The National Land Survey of Sweden to change the village's name to Dalsro.
The residents lament that the unfortunate name of their village has become a huge headache for them, especially when they write something about it or when they try to sell something on Facebook but it keeps getting flagged or censored.
While it is a legit enough reason to warrant a change of name, it could take some time, said the report.
The body said if new names are created, the effect on previously existing names must be considered and that there must be a strong reason to change the name.
"Place name customs according to this law mean that, among other things, place names must be written according to accepted norms for written Swedish, as well as the fact that place names currently in use cannot be changed unless there are exceptional reasons," the National Land Survey of Sweden told STV in an email, as quoted in the report.

While the villagers could pray and hope that the authorities approve their request, one look at Fucke's history and you'll understand why they are desperate for a name change.
If the name of the village is not bad enough, the settlement -- which is made up of just 11 properties -- is located on the banks of Fuckesjön ('Fucke Lake').
According to the report, the earliest records of the name Fucke date all the way back to 1547, where it is described as being "by a lake, situated very high up on a hillside with very steep fields".
Triumphs and failures
With such a rich history behind the name, the residents of Fucke face a huge stumbling block when it comes to getting the name of their village changed.Back in 2007, the 15 residents of the Swedish village Fjuckby tried to change their town's name to Fjukeby, but their appeal was rejected.
However, in Austria, residents of a town named 'F***ing' successfully changed the place's name to 'Fugging' in January 2021.
So, let's pray for Fucke's sake that the authorities will approve the name change.
