If you were a fan of the 'Game of Thrones' series, you may have noticed that the quality of the show started to go down right after the last book in the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' was published.

Which is no one's fault, really. Except perhaps of the person who decided to start shooting the show before the series was completed.

Anyway, if you were disappointed by the way the TV show ended up or have read the books and been waiting for the next book in the series, you'd be delighted to know that author George R.R. Martin may have made some progress.

Finally.

A long time coming

The number of decades needed to finish book six.
In his blogpost on June 23, Martin confessed to beginning to have cabin fever; but for him, it's actually being stuck in an actual cabin on the mountains due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that the enforced isolation had helped him write.

"I am spending long hours every day on 'The Winds Of Winter', and making steady progress. I finished a new chapter yesterday, another one three days ago, another one the previous week.

"But no, this does not mean that the book will be finished tomorrow or published next week," Martin wrote in his blog.

Let's hope the character development is better in the book
"Of late I have been visiting with Cersei, Asha, Tyrion, Ser Barristan, and Areo Hotah. I will be dropping back into Braavos next week.

"I have bad days, which get me down, and good days, which lift me up, but all in all I am pleased with the way things are doing," he said.

Martin, however, stated that it was a "huge book" and he still has a long way to go. So, don't expect it to be released anytime soon even if the author himself is hoping that both the pandemic and the book will be done soon.

The series has received mixed responses.
To be honest, at this point, we're not even sure if we're still excited for 'The Winds of Winter' as we have sort of given up on the 71-year-old to finish writing it in his lifetime.

But if it is indeed coming along well and get published in the next few years, we might just add it to our forever expanding to-be-read list anyway.

Are you guys waiting patiently for him to finish the 'Game Of Thrones' book series?
