If you’ve been reeling from the unprecedented heat, you might want to cool down at a water park and make it a trip for the whole family. Without further ado, here is a list of waterparks in the country to visit:

1. Adventure Waterpark Desaru Coast (Johor)

Home to the first-ever water coaster in the region and one of the biggest wave pools in the world, this water park is set against the unique backdrop of a traditional Malaysian fishing village. There are more than 20 wet and dry rides here and make sure to check out the Penawar River, a long, looping lazy river that floats amid the lush greenery of riverbank and riverside fishing village scenes with four popular giant water slides - Wild Whirl, Super Twister, Riptide, and The Tempest.

2. LEGOLAND Waterpark Malaysia (Johor)

You may know LEGOLAND for its theme park, but did you know it also has a water park? Check out over 20 slides, rides, shows, water games and even their Aquarium. Here’s something you won’t find at other water parks: the Build-A-Raft river where you can build a LEGO raft with bricks and take it down the river amidst LEGO models, flowers, and palm trees.

3. Sunway Lagoon (Selangor)

The most famous theme park in the country, they have over 80 attractions spread across 88 acres. They boast the World’s Largest Vortex Ride which is 11 stories high, Vuvuzela, and the World’s Largest Surf Pool (Surf Beach) is a surfer’s paradise.

4. SplashMania Gamuda Cover (Selangor)

With 24 water slides and 15 key attractions, you’ll probably need more than one full day to cover one of the country’s newest theme parks. Spread out throughout 18 acres, make sure to check out Plunge, the tallest water ride drop in Malaysia or Atlantis VR, the first VR water slide ride in Malaysia.

5. Wet World Water Park Shah Alam (Selangor)

The cheapest water theme park in Selangor has a Caribbean-theme with rides such as Super Hurricane, Carribean Rider, and the Kiddy Typhoon Lagoon. Although it isn’t huge like Sunway Lagoon, it’s still great for a day out with the family.

6. ESCAPE (Penang)

Set on a 44-acre former construction wasteland, the theme park consists of two main areas: Waterplay and Adventure play. Here, there are over 35 rides and attractions including the Guinness World Record Holder for Longest Water Slide at 1,111m.

7. Splash Out Langkawi (Kedah)

This water park is only 20 minutes from the airport and is spread across 12 acres. There are 12 exciting rides for thrills and spills such as the Perfect Storm, a 40-degree parabolic funnel-shaped ride on a raft and the Shipwreck Falls, where you’ll have a heart-stopping steep drop before ending up in a splash pool.

8. Sunway Lost World of Tambun (Perak)

Also owned by Sunway, this is an amusement park and water park rolled into one, what makes it stand out from the pack are its natural hot springs and 400-million-year-old limestone hills. The water park itself hosts an Awesome Pool Party with a DJ from Fridays to Sundays and also includes Malaysia’s longest man-made adventure river where you can drift away in a giant rubber tube.

9. Melaka Wonderland

Just 1.5 hours away from KLIA, there are attractions for both adrenaline junkies and those wanting to kick back and relax. Navigate around their lake using your legs with the Pedal Boat or row around on the Tube Ride. Or if you (inexplicably) want to experience the sensation of being in a storm, check out the Tornado Chaser, the first of its kind in Malaysia where you rotate in a humongous bowl and descend into the dark tunnel and pool below.

10. A'Famosa Water Theme Park, Water World (Melaka)

If you want to be spoilt for choice, head over to the largest water theme park in Malaysia. Hop onto their High Speed seven-storey slides or the Wahaha ride with a tsunami-like effect. Their Ice Cream Waterslide is one of the tallest, longest, and widest of its kind in Southeast Asia with a total length of 108m. Prepare to scream your lungs out!
