(Hopefully Not) Coming Soon: KFC Experimenting With Vegetarian Fried Chicken

If you're one of those people who hates pineapples on pizza (high-five, friend!), you're going to hate what KFC is doing right about now.

According to a report by AFP, the fast food chain is apparently testing out a new fried chicken dish that would have all carnivores on Earth looking away in disgust: vegetarian fried chicken.

The news agency reported that KFC is set to test the vegetarian, plant-based chicken dish for one day in one restaurant in Georgia, United States.

Complimentary samples of the new product will be available at the outlet.

"I think we've all heard 'it tastes like chicken' — well, our customers are going to be amazed and say, 'it tastes like Kentucky Fried Chicken!'" said president and chief concept officer for KFC US Kevin Hochman.

The vegetarian chicken is called “Beyond Fried Chicken,” as it was developed in collaboration with Beyond Meat.

Apart from the vegetarian chicken, vegetarian nuggets and vegetarian boneless wings will also be available.

Here's the scary news: if the experiment in the outlet receives positive feedback, KFC may consider introducing the vegetarian chicken in their other outlets.
