KFC Introduces Spicy Chicken And Nuts Mooncake In Hong Kong

Well, can you imagine your favourite fried chicken stuffed into a mooncake?

Yes, such a thing now exists in Hong Kong.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the world's favourite fried chicken fast food chain has just opened a new outlet in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay shopping district.

To celebrate the opening, the store has decided to unveil several new dishes, but the one that caught everyone's attention is the spicy chicken and nuts mooncake.

SCMP's Bernice Chan said in the article that the mooncake is filled with a mixture of spicy chicken floss, crushed almonds and walnuts, and sunflower seeds.

Biting into it, one can taste the savouriness of the chicken, the crunch of the nuts and a hint of spiciness, Chan said in the article.

The peculiar mooncake by KFC is the size of a mini mooncake, she also revealed.

They fast food outlet will also be offering a Golden Lava Custard mooncake that contains a savoury, salted egg yolk flavour.

As the mooncakes were introduced to also celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on 13 September, the mooncakes come in a special edition KFC bucket called the Moonlight Bucket, which in fact is a lantern with an LED in it that lights up.

As you can guess, the mooncakes are only available in that one Hong Kong outlet (bummer!), and the Moonlight Bucket, which you would have to buy to get the mooncakes, retails for HK$275 (RM144.60).
