Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) is back and things got off on a blazing start with Day 1 on 17 August 2016. Since its 2013 launch, KLFW has grown from strength to strength culminating in an event attracting a 150,000-strong audience to the runway at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur over five days last year. We saw 90 local designers and a handful of overseas labels bring out their collections with full force.
This year, more than 100 designers are participating to showcase their latest yet-to-unveiled runway collections, and founder of KLFW Andrew Tan says,“ The number of designers showing for the first time is a great testament to the attention Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week is receiving on a national and international level.”
The international buzz at KLFW 2016 is unprecedented as partners Tourism Malaysia and AirAsia have helped to rope in more than 50 international media from China, India, South Korea, Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand with four designers from China, India and South Korea to showcase their works and to create an engaging dialogue with our local creatives.

Here are the highlights from Days 1 & 2 of KLFW.

Moto Guo (@motoguo)

This menswear label launched in 2015 is the eponymous label of Raffles fashion school alumnus, Moto Guo, who was admirably longlisted for the 2016 LVMH Prize. He describes his aesthetics as ‘artistically wacky with a dash of vintage-ness”. His latest collection ‘Picnic In The Society’ is a yummy hotchpotch of gingham, quirky details and gender-bender sensibility. To us, Moto Guo’s refreshing out-of-the-box style is one to watch out for.

You can always count on this label founded in 2012 under the Innai group for a deliciously feminine flavour. Sophisticated yet playful and romantic, this bespoke line owned by Izrin Ismail benefits from the creative direction of Juliani Jamal and Arene P.Khairudin.

@justin_chew_ debuts his street wear fashion label @jtnc_by_justinchew at #klfw2016 giving the runway a taste of street culture with raw washed denim pieces to graphic prints in a 90's inspired element.
