This Local Designer’s Affordable Facemasks Will Make You Feel Patriotic For Merdeka Day

Well, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration may not be the same as the previous years, but if there’s one way to keep yourself and your loved ones protected while being patriotic, it’s by wearing these cool facemasks.

Local fashion designer Datuk Radzuan Radziwill has partnered with Astro Gempak to come up with a special line of limited-edition facemasks in conjunction with Merdeka day.

There are two designs available – the Tie Dye Batik and Batik Canting, which are sold at a very wallet-friendly price of RM20 per piece! You can also get both at a combo price of RM35.

With that price, you’ll also get a set of 3-ply 50gsm filter and one facemask extension to make it easier for hijab wearers to wear the mask.

And if you’re worried if the facemasks will do you anygood during the pandemic, worry not as it has been designed in accordance to WHO and KKM’s guidelines – polyester for the outer layer, cotton fabric for the inner layer, and a 3-ply filter to be inserted between it.

According to Radzuan, the facemask designs were inspired by our Jalur Gemilang and were designed using batik.

“I wanted to highlight patriotism especially in this month. It’s not really about making money through these masks, I wanted to help more people to get afforadable masks during the pandemic which could also be used to promote the Merdeka spirit amongst Malaysians,” the designer told Rojak Daily.

“I am so happy that as a fashion designer, I can contribute something for the nation.”
