This Malaysian Guy Spent RM200,000 To Look Like His Favourite Anime Character
What do people normally do when they’re so into anime? Well, apart from binge-watching hours (or even days) worth of anime shows, they’ll dress up as their favourite anime characters and meet up with fellow cosplayers at anime conventions or competitions.
To take it up a notch, you’d probably commit to memory every dialogue of your favourite character from each episode, set up a secret shrine devoted to him or her, and probably establish and be the chairman of the fan club.
But for this Malaysian otaku, his fandom and admiration for his favourite anime character is probably on a whole differently level. Like, in a league of his own kind of level.
Meet Amirul Rizwan Musa, a 21-year-old lad from Ketereh, Kelantan who loves Final Fantasy especially one of its characters, Squall Leonheart.
He loves the character so much that one day, he decided to be the character – literally.
According to Harian Metro, Amirul has spent up to RM200,000 to transform himself into Squall Leonheart.
Before and after Amirul's transformation. The transformation started in 2014 after undergoing several plastic surgeries abroad. The surgeries were done in stages.
Amirul, who’s also popularly known as Miyyo Rizone, claims he has previously won Ulzzang Asia back in 2012 which became the turning point for his transformation.
He has received some great backlash due to his appearance after his photos went viral on social media over the past few weeks.
“I won the Ulzzang Asia online competition back in 2012 and decided to do plastic surgery after I was offered to become a model following the win”, Amirul told Harian Metro.
“My photos have previously gone viral before but it wasn’t as bad as it is today. I didn’t know my photos were viral again until I received numerous insulting phone calls and messages from strangers condemning me.”
“What’s even heart-wrenching is that some of them even have the courage to come up to me to say mean things and scold me.”
A recent picture of Amirul during Hari Raya. Despite the constant insults thrown at him, Amirul seemed unfazed as he’s grateful that there is still some people out there who support him and even offered him job opportunities thanks to his appearance.
The youngest sibling of eight has been offered to be an ambassador for several local products as well as a few acting stints.
“I’m still considering the offers as I want to focus on my own beauty line business for now,” he said.
Well Final Fantasy fans, do you think Amirul is the spitting image of Squall Leonheart? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
