It sucks that most Malaysians won't be able to balik kampung for Hari Raya Aidilfitri for the second year in a row.

The semangat is not the same but if you crave for some Raya feels, visit to the malls in the city may just help a little.

Some of these malls have gone all out to create the festive feels, you're sure to get into the mood or at least the little ones in your homes might!

Here are some that you can check out:

Intermark Mall

We love Intermark Mall's "Wau-Raya" decorations as it showcases one of Malaysia's most impressive but rarely spoken about artform.

Walk through the mall's main entrance and you will see dozens of beautiful wau displayed. You can take pictures and feel like you're back in your kampung!

There's even a wau making demonstration on weekends that's sure to delight the young and old alike.

Pavilion KL

Pavilion's 'Riang Riuh Raya’ is a celebration of Malaysia’s heritage, culture and traditions. The mall’s decorations are inspired by the floral motifs of batik and the vibrant colours of mosaic design, with the Centre Court showcases a vibrant festive garden with abundant floral blossoms and traditional lamps.

Overhead, bold coloured fabric and twinkling lights add vibrance and colour in an ode to Malaysian craft and heritage.

Da Men USJ

Da Men USJ celebrates ‘Muhibbah Mesra Raya’, an unforgettable festive celebration with decorations inspired by the beauty of Malaysia’s traditional woven ‘anyaman’ art, symbolising the beauty and tight-knit nature of our multicultural society.

1 Utama

Standing impressively at 35-feet tall, a spectacular Malaccan Traditional House in an idyllic village setting is a welcoming sight at 1 Utama’s concourse Oval.

Built as a poetic tribute to the living traditions of Malay culture, this arresting centrepiece is accompanied by a series of 12 different ‘Tangga Melaka’ (Malaccan staircases) designs, an iconic attraction beautifully preserved over hundreds of years and gazetted as a historical heritage in Malaysia.

Definitely a place to go if you miss your kampung.

Fahrenheit88

This Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Fahrenheit88 presents Rimbunan Raya, a celebration set under a canopy of lights and towering palm trees at Atrium, Ground Floor.

Besides the usual retail shops, the mall also has a bazaar where you can support small, local businesses that sells all your Raya needs!

Get in the Raya spirit!

We can't let this pandemic defeat us! Let's show the virus who is the boss by celebrating Hari Raya as well as we can considering the situation.

However, don't forget that Kuala Lumpur and Selangor is still under MCO so don't cross border and always wear your masks, maintain social distancing and wash or sanitise your hands often when you're out and about.
