You know the saying, 'finders, keepers'?

Well, an Indonesian man found something, but he didn't exactly keep it because it changed his life for good.

Five years ago, an Indonesian man’s life changed thanks to a diamond ring that he found.

According to a report in Suara.com, Harianto, who works as a used goods collector, found the ring five days after a fire at the Supit Urang rubbish dump in Sukun District, Kota Malang, Indonesia.

Miraulously, the ring also fit his finger.

However, the 34-year-old didn’t think much of the value that the ring at that time.

“It was a diamond ring. It was as wide as my ring finger and there was a diamond about the size of a corn kernel.

“The next day I sold the ring to Sawojajar and I was surprised that the ring would cost 80 million Rupiah,” he was quoted as saying.

Money that changed his life


With the unexpected income, Harianto felt like a new man.

He built a house near his parents’ house with it which gave him confidence to propose to his then girlfriend.

They couple is now married and have three children.

“It wasn't long before I started dating, but I didn't dare to get married. But when I got a house, I immediately proposed to my girlfriend.

“I'm grateful to be able to have a household with children and it's pretty good to work like this even though it's dirty,” he said.

What a lucky man!
