Is it just us or does it seem like everyone on our Instagram feed is flying off to Japan or Switzerland lately? Well, whether you’re planning to cuti-cuti Malaysia or jet off to some exotic locale, there is a list of long weekends you’ll want to take note of this year as well as dates where you can utilise your annual leaves to make it a long weekend. Thaipusam (4 days)

Holiday period: 25 January to 28 January (Thursday to Sunday)

To take leave on: 26 January (Friday)

Only applicable for: Johor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Perak, Putrajaya, and Selangor.

Chinese New Year (3 days)

Holiday Period: 10 February to 12 February (Saturday to Monday)

Note: 12 February is not a holiday for Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

Nuzul Al-Quran (4 days)

Holiday period: 28 March to 31 March (Thursday to Sunday) To take leave on: 29 March (Friday) Note: 28 March is not a holiday for Johor, Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, and Sarawak

Hari Raya Aidilfitri (5 days)

Holiday period: 10 April to 14 April (Wednesday to Sunday) To take leave on: 12 April (Friday)

Labour Day (5 days)

Holiday period: 1 May to 5 May (Wednesday to Sunday) Take leave on 2 & 3 May (Friday & Thursday)

Wesak Day (5 days)

Holiday period: 22 May to 26 May (Wednesday to Sunday) To take leave on: 23 & 24 May (Thursday & Friday)

Agong's birthday (3 days)

Holiday period: 1 June to 3 June (Saturday to Monday)

Hari Raya Haji (3 days)

Holiday period: 15 June to 17 June (Saturday to Monday)

Note: until 18 June (Tuesday) for Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis, and Terengganu

Awal Muharram (3 days)

Holiday period: 6 July to 8 July (Saturday to Monday)

Note: 8 July is not a holiday for Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.

Malaysia Day & Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (3 days)

Holiday period: 14 September to 16 September (Saturday to Monday)

Deepavali (4 days)

Holiday period: 31 October to 3 November (Thursday to Sunday) To take leave on: 1 November (Friday)

Christmas (5 days)

Holiday period: 25 December to 29 December (Wednesday to Sunday) To take leave on: 26 & 27 December (Thursday & Friday)
