More Than 50 People, Including Immigration Officers, Nabbed For Working With Human-smuggling Syndicate
They may have been low-ranking officers, but their lifestyle could rival the richest people in the country.

Expensive cars and lifestyle
Two immigration officers, who were KP19 and KP22 grade government staff, lived the lives that most of us can only dream of.
Despite their low ranks, they owned luxury cars such as Rolls-Royce limousine, Ford Mustang, Range Rover, Audi as well as superbikes. They lived in big houses too.
They were protected by another officer of much higher rank.
Free Malaysia Today reported that one of the officers even had previous criminal record but managed to get a job with the immigration department.
Quoting a source, the news portal said that one of the suspects had criminal charges for car-jacking and theft.
Clearly, car is a passion for the suspected criminal. 
Aiding human traffickers
According to several reports, including the one by FMT, 34 immigration officers have been nabbed in a sting operation called Ops Selat by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) so far to assist investigation.
12 foreign worker agents and 10 civilians have also been arrested.
It is believed that the foreign worker agents bribed immigration officers based in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA, klia2, as well as the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Bangunan Sultan Iskandar, Johor to smuggle in foreign workers illegally.
The syndicate reportedly brought in foreign workers from China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Bangladesh.
According to reports, the immigration officers would "stamp" the passports of foreigners who come into the country with social visit visas that allows them to stay in the country for 90 days to indicate that they've left the country before the 90 days were up although the foreigners have remained in the country all along.
This allowed the foreigners to stay and work in Malaysia with a valid social visit passport.
The immigration officers also "had set up a special counter" for foreigners who were blacklisted for immigration offences.
As the saying goes, sepandai-pandai tupai melompat, akhirnya jatuh ke tanah juga.
Although we're not sure if these tupais were smart considering that they flaunted their wealth to the point that people started suspecting their despicable acts.
