We’re only months away until the 2020 Tokyo Olympics kicks off from 24 July to 9 August.

We’ve heard a lot of good news surrounding the upcoming Olympics – medals and podiums being made from recycled waste to be eco-friendlier, the rapid progress of their stadium, and many more.

But what really caught our attention were the nine ambassadors appointed for the 2020 Olympics.

They’re not just any ambassadors, mind you; they’re actually anime characters that are widely celebrated in pop culture worldwide!

Sailor Moon, Luffy ('One Piece'), Naruto, Son Goku ('Dragon Ball Z'), Cure Miracle ('Pretty Cure'), Cure Magical ('Pretty Cure'), Astro Boy, Shin Chan, and Yo Jibanyan ('Yo-kai Watch') are now tasked to promote the Tokyo Olympics, something which we’re pretty sure they’ll excel at.

It feels odd that the iconic Pokemon, Pikachu, was snubbed from the line up but hey, maybe they have some copyright disputes?

In the spirit of the Olympics, you can also get your hands on some exclusive merchandise featuring all nine ambassadors from the Tokyo 2020 Official Online Shop.

Will you be in Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics?
We foresee that their opening ceremony will be the coolest in history with all the anime characters and technology used.

Wonder who will be Malaysia’s ambassadors if we ever get the chance to host the Olympics. Perhaps it could be Upin Ipin, Boboiboy, Ejen Ali, and Keluang Man?
