Former CIMB chairman Nazir Razak has just unveiled his memoir. He announced the news via a post on his Instagram page on Wednesday (6 October):
"It’s ready! Not quite an autobiography. More a book of reflections about what I witnessed, the key events that defined me and my life, and how I rationalised all of it. At the end, I share my thoughts on how the path to a better Malaysia may well lie in our past.
"Hope you enjoy it. I now know that writing a book is really hard work!," he wrote in his post.
Titled 'What's In A Name', the memoir takes readers through the ups and downs of the 54-year-old's life as the chairman of one of the region's biggest banks, as well as his personal struggles growing up.
The revealing memoir also recounts what it was like growing up in Malaysia's most prominent political family, honouring the legacy of his late father, Abdul Razak, Malaysia's revered second prime minister, while also being the brother of former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Nazir concludes with an analysis of the Malaysian political economy from his unique vantage point, and makes a compelling case for reforms and how they can be made.
