No Screaming Among Strict SOPs Introduced At Japan Theme Parks Before Reopening
There hasn't been any confirmation on when theme parks in Japan will reopen but East and West Japan Amusement Association has released a guideline to ensure safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Walt Disney World News Today, the guideline will be reviewed and revised as necessary, but the expiry date on it indicates 31 January 2021.
The list is long
It not only includes general sanitisation processes, social distancing and other standard processes, but also more specific guidelines for rides and shows.
Some of the general guideline includes restricting the number of visitors, implementing advanced bookings, social distancing between visitors as well as staff and visitors, providing extra hand washing and sanitising areas, and more.
Strict SOPs are also recommended at each attraction, and if you can't adhere to the SOPs at certain attractions such as ball pits, the management has been advised to keep the attraction closed.
If you love Virtual Reality (VR) and 3-D attractions, you're in for a disappointing trip because, unless it is possible to sanitise every single surface and equipment after each use, these attractions will be closed to visitors as well.
According to Astro Awani, screaming is also not allowed on rides such as roller coasters, taking all the fun out of the experience.
We're not sure how this can be implemented, especially with people who really do get scared, but that's what the guideline says.
Even during shows, the actors are discouraged from performing acts that could startle audience members which could lead to "accidental screaming".
On top of all that, visitors are discouraged from cheering loudly during the shows.
Can you imagine a show without all the shouting and screaming?
How boring would that be for both the performers and audience?
Is it still worth going?
With the threat of COVID-19 and such strict SOPs, we're not even sure if a trip to a theme park would be fun anymore.
On the bright side, it is likely that the crowd would be much lesser than usual at these attractions so yay for those who hate crowds.
Would you go when the attractions are reopened?
