It's literally impossible to not make puns at the expense of Samsung right now. After all, it has had a 'booming' success of late with the S7 series, followed by 'explosive' chatter regarding the Note7 being the best-looking product that the company has released ever. Claims that it will 'blow' the competition out of the water 'set-off' massive flaming wars between Android and Apple fanboys (and girls) 'erupting' with vitriol from either side. In such a charged (but not too charged or it'll explode) atmosphere, it's time to take a look at the aftermath of the blow up. 

#1 Global recall of 2.5 million Galaxy Note7 phones

Well, we say global, but it's more like 10 countries and other markets. There is no specific timeline for the recall and there may not be enough supply to meet the replacement demands. AND the recall is country-specific so there is no guarantee that your phone will be replaced here in Malaysia, if at all.

#3 Airlines no longer allow you to charge your Note7 in-flight

You know those safety instructions you ignore during a flight? Well, now they've added a section during the safety briefing that specifically prohibits you from using or charging your Samsung Galaxy Note7 during flights. MAS has strictly forbidden the use of the Note7 on flights and is not allowing the devices to be checked in. Cargo shipment of the device has also been disallowed. This was followed by a ban by AirAsia, AirAsia X and Malindo Air as well. Just turn off your phone if you have a Note7. Just... turn it off. 

#4 Samsung's market value has dropped by 28 trillion won

Their shares dropped 7%, which is equivalent to 28 trillion won. Convert that into any currency you currently use at your current location.

#5 Samsung Malaysia has released a statement on it's Malaysian microsite 

"Our number one priority is the safety of our customers. We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them as soon as possible," says DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. "We are expediting replacement devices so that they can be provided through the exchange program as conveniently as possible and in compliance with related regulations. We sincerely thank our customers for their understanding and patience."

In Malaysia, customers who have Galaxy Note7 devices can replace their current device with a new device beginning 29th September 2016 onwards at the place of purchase (original place of collection). Bring the full box set including a charger and cable, headset and USB Connector. Call the Samsung Malaysia Careline at 1800-88-7799 to give them a good talking to if you wish.
