As you walk in the area, you are greeted with architraves and romantic Roman columns.
Enter the main door, and you will see elegantly patterned wallpaper coupled with decorative fittings and mood lighting.
Of course, large windows will also grace the space so you will always be able to have an eye on us.
Ok?
"Woof woof!" replies Brownie while vigorously wagging his tail.
Huh?
What we described earlier is a mansion, yes mansion, for very very lucky dogs (and cats).

Building homes for pets
Quite a number of pet owners in Thailand have been purchasing luxurious homes including mansions for their pets.Rojak Daily speaks to the owner of Kapook Doghouse, the company creating these spectacular units.
Replying via email, the company owner, Sarut Jareansin said that the idea to build the pet homes came following a tragic incident in his life.
"I had a golden retriever called Kapook for about 8 years. I used to let him roam around and run freely because it made him happy."
"One day, while getting ready for work, Kapook came crawling to me. Someone had poisoned him," said Sarut.

Sarut said that he rushed Kapook to the vet but unfortunately, the dog could not be saved.
"This is when I realised that I needed to find some way to let pets enjoy themselves within a gated space and away from people who may hurt them."
"That's when I started making custom made dog houses," he said.

A custom-built haven
Sarut said that each pet house that he created was based on what the customer wanted."It is designed to fit the needs, space, budget and lifestyle of our customers," he explained adding that a unit ranged from between 50,000 baht to 800,000 baht.
That roughly works to about RM6,700 to a little more than RM100,000! Woah!

"Our most expensive unit is still being built. It is a Roman-inspired home which has a portion for small dogs and a place for big dogs at the back," he said.
On top of building dog houses, the company also builds custom made cat houses for feline lovers.

Mirroring his own feelings
Sarut said that all designs for the pet houses are based on his own feelings about what home should feel like.
"I want to live in a beautiful, clean and airy home and so I create similar spaces for cats and dogs too," he said.
He said that many of the pet homes that he built even included air-conditioning units.
"It takes about 10 to 12 days to build," he said.
A look at their Facebook page also showed that many pet homes — big and small — were made to mirror the homes of their owners.
Sarut said that for owners who wanted such homes in Thailand, Kapook Doghouse was the sole company who offered such designs.
"Our houses are elegant, of good quality and are durable."
"They're also just as pretty as any human house," he said adding that they were also looking to expand their franchise to other parts of the world.
So, what do you think? Should someone start a company like this in Malaysia?
We're not so sure about the mega pet mansions but reasonably sized houses with fans could make a lot of sense because it's JUST SO HOT here.
