Perodua has introduced its first electric vehicle (EV), known as the QV-E, priced at RM80,000, marking a significant step for the brand in supporting the national agenda to develop the EV ecosystem.
The launch was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) here today (1 December).

Anwar expressed pride in Perodua’s latest achievement following the introduction of its first EV.
“When Tengku Zafrul (Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz) proposed in September 2023 to set a clear direction requiring Perodua to prepare an EV projection, I was a little concerned."
“The goal was quite ambitious. Perhaps we lacked local skills and expertise, but this is truly something to be proud of, not only the launch of an EV but that it was produced through the ingenuity and perseverance of local talent,” he said during the event.

Meanwhile, Perodua President and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the development of the QV-E model involved an investment of RM800 million and was produced at Perodua’s latest manufacturing facility, the Smart Mobility Plant.
“At present, we can produce 500 units per month, but we aim to offer 3,000 units per month by the third quarter of 2026,” he said.
He added that the QV-E uses a 52.5kW Lithium Iron Phosphate battery capable of achieving a driving range of up to 445 kilometers (NEDC), depending on driving style, temperature, and road conditions.

With the introduction of the QV-E, Perodua is also introducing the battery leasing concept known as "Battery as a Service" whereby the car's body is sold separately from the battery.
"This concept is our solution towards reducing owner's anxiety when owning a battery electric vehicle."
"By offering this service we will be able to offer a lifetime guarantee on the battery for our customers' peace of mind," Zainal said.
The QV-E is in two colours, "Ice Blue" and Caviar Grey" and is only available at selected Perodua outlets.
