Calling all musical fans! If you've been complaining about the lack of musicals coming to our shores (we're looking at you, 'Aladdin The Musical'), we have some really good news for you.

One of the world's most famous musical productions, 'The Phantom of the Opera', is going to premier at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur (finally!) from 15 June and the tickets are available for purchase already.

Musical lovers now...
We've never watched the play (since we're too poor to travel overseas to watch the show), but from all we've heard and read about the show, we're super excited to catch it.

If you too need some convincing, this is what we know so far about the show that has gotten us thrilled.

It's the longest running musical in Broadway history

The Phantom of the Opera World Tour
The show has been running for 30 years now! No production can survive that long if it's not super good.

It's been performed over 13,000 times over the years by different cast and crew but remains a beloved to musical theatre fans.

It's won tonnes of awards

The Phantom of the Opera World Tour
'The Phantom of the Opera' has won over 70 major awards over the years, including seven Tony's and four Oliver Awards on West End.

The awards include the Best Musical, Set Designer, Costume Designer, Music and many more.

If all those awards can't convince you, maybe our next point will.

The story and music

The Phantom of the Opera World Tour
Based on classic novel 'Le Fantômede L’Opéra' by Gaston Leroux, 'The Phantom of the Opera' has all the ingredient for a successful story - mystery, love triangle, humor, jealousy and passion.

The song lyrics and music is said to be one of the best ever written. We can't confirm this until we watch it, but that's just yet another reason to buy the tickets to the show.

The extra-ness

The Phantom of the Opera World Tour
One of the best things about the theaters is the dramatic settings, costumes and orchestra that can transport viewers to a whole new world.

'The Phantom of the Opera' has over 130 cast, crew and orchestra members, over 230 costumes and extravagant sceneries. Sprinkle in some special effects and light works, the show is set to stun the audience.
