The Miss World Malaysia 2021 pageant has crowned a new beauty queen, and she is Dr Lavanya Sivaji.

The announcement was made by the Miss World Malaysia 2021 official Twitter account:

The 25-year-old lass from Batu Caves was crowned the winner during the virtual finals which aired on 16 October.

According to @Missosology, Dr Lavanya edged out 38 other finalists to be crowned Miss World Malaysia 2021.

With the win, Dr Lavanya will be representing Malaysia at the 70th Miss World pageant, which will be held at the sunny country of Puerto Rico on 16 December.

#1 She's a doctor

You probably have guessed from her salutation, but yes; Lavanya is indeed a practicing medical doctor. She pursued her medical degree at the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia and graduated last year. She then did her housemanship at Hospital Angkatan Tentera Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

#2 She's a beauty pageant veteran

The Miss World Malaysia 2021 wasn't Dr Lavanya's first rodeo in the beauty pageant circuit. Before taking the Miss World Malaysia 2021 crown, Dr Lavanya placed third runner up in the Miss Malaysia Indian Global 2019 pageant. Guess the Miss Malaysia Indian Global 2019 pageant was just a practice run for her to achieving greater things.

#3 She's a huge advocate for the orang asli community

Not only is she a doctor and a beauty pageant veteran, Dr Lavanya has a huge heart as well. She founded 4Them, a charity project focusing on health issues as well as nutrition amongst the the Orang Asli community in Malaysia. She's such a big advocate, she donned a traditional, hand-made garment from the Mah Meri tribe during the Miss World Malaysia 2021 finals and she totally slayed it:
