Each of the outlets looks different and unique in its own way.

We got the chance to visit the latest outlet in MyTown Mall, Cheras and it did not disappoint.

Book, Coffee + Cakes and Japanese food

The outlet has all our favourite things in one store - thousands of books, coffee and cake and Japanese food.

We also loved that instead of partnering with chain brands, BookXcess decided to go with Whisk Coffee Bar & Cakes and Ume Tei.

It also has a co-working space if you're bored of working from home, as well as a "art tunnel" featuring the works of local artists sold at affordable prices.

While we would give the aesthetic part full marks, we have to say that the only issue we have with the design of the place is that it's not really disabled people-friendly. It's also not that friendly towards the elderly or the really young.

Parts of the place are filled with loose stones, which, of course, is risky to some. Although there are many signs warning visitors of the risk, we still can't quite agree with putting design and novelty above practicality and safety.

However, it's always a delight to be in a space with so many books sold at affordable prices.

We especially loved the collection of children's books as there are plenty of cool choices.
