[REVIEW] Four Things We Love About The LEGO adidas Originals Superstar Set
Over the years, we've seen LEGO worked with several pop culture brands and properties to create silhouettes that became instant classics.
Remember the Nintendo collaboration that saw LEGO releasing several 'Super Mario' playsets, including the gorgeous LEGO NES set?
While we love those playsets to bits, this one, however, has gotta be our most favourite collaboration of all: the LEGO x adidas Originals Superstar.
The Danish toy production company and the German apparel manufacturer have come together once again to wow their fans with a one-of-a-kind playset.
This time, LEGO reimagines one of the most iconic sneakers in history in brick format: the adidas Originals Superstar.

The Superstar soon graduated to become part of youth fashion culture and they are now worn regularly as casual footwear, as evident by the sales numbers: in 2015, adidas reportedly sold a whopping 15 million pairs of the Superstar.

Here are five things we love about the adidas Originals Superstar LEGO playset:
If you're a real fan of LEGO, you'll understand just how painstakingly hard it is sometimes to build a LEGO set. Thankfully, the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar is not a very hard build.
#1 It's a relatively easy build

This awesome playset boasts 731 pieces, and it comes in just seven bags (six, to be exact, considering the seventh bag cosists of extra pieces).
On top of that, there are no big moving parts, and the LEGO pieces are generally medium to big in size, so you don't have to worry about losing any of the pieces when you accidentally drop them on the floor (ugh, don't you just hate that when it happens?).
Overall, it took us plus-minus two hours to completely build the set, which is shorter than our usual nap time.
One look at the finished product and you'll notice just how far LEGO went to make the playset look like the real thing.
#2 Amazing attention to detail

First off, you'll be building the left side of the shoe, which is actually a 1:1 replica of an adult-sized UK7 shoe.

Not only that, you'll also get the same exact shoelace to lace up your LEGO adidas Superstar.

It has got to be the unmistakable blue adidas Originals shoe box the LEGO set comes in, which mimics the box that a real pair of adidas Originals Superstar comes in.

#3 It is highly customisable
Once you're done with the build, you'll notice that LEGO has included studs in several sections of the shoe. That wasn't done by mistake though. The studs are there so that you, a LEGO master builder, can customise the shoe however you want. Recognising that shoe customisation is becoming a huge thing in the sneaker culture, LEGO wants their fans to tap into their creativity to design a shoe that's uniquely theirs.

You wanna stick your favourite LEGO Batman minifig on the shoe? Go for it. You wanna snap a piece of wheel from your LEGO Speed collection? Why not? It's really up to you how you want to customise your own shoe.
Speaking of customisation, here's our attempt at customising our LEGO Superstar during a media event recently:

#4 It's pretty enough to be a center of attention
There are no two ways about it: the LEGO adidas Originals Superstar is one gorgeous playset...and LEGO knows it!The brick sneaker comes with a stand and a plaque so that you can display it wherever you want and marvel at it.

So, for this writer's S/O to say OK to displaying this playset in the room (it is now permanently residing on a dresser), it means it's worthy enough.

If you're a slow poke and you miss out because it's sold out (trust us, it will sell out!), you can still purchase it when it's made available on the adidas Malaysia online store on 30 July.
It will then go on sale on the LEGO Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, as well as major retailers and department stores in Malaysia, in September.
The LEGO adidas Originals Superstar retails for RM449.90, so there's plenty of time for you to save up.
