Those with sensitive teeth know how annoying it is to bite into something only to grimace in uncomfort.

If you're one of those suffering from sensitive teeth, don't worry; help is here.

Enjoy the little things

Teeth care brand Sensodyne has just launched the #ReclaimLifeSmallPleasures Campaign in Malaysia to introduce its new Repair and Protect Deep Repair, a toothpaste for those with tooth sensitivity so that they can reclaim life’s small pleasures without worrying about tooth sensitivity.

For people who suffer from sensitive teeth, tooth sensitivity is often not just about discomfort, but also having to compromise on everyday food and drinks in fear that it could trigger short and sharp sensation on the teeth. Something as little as enjoying a cup of teh tarik, or an ice-cold boba tea, or even biting into a freezing cold ice cream might turn into an unpleasant experience, causing them to miss out on small pleasures in life.

Hence, every individual, including tooth sensitivity sufferers, can make the most of #ReclaimLifeSmallPleasures Campaign by Sensodyne, to learn and be self-aware of tooth sensitivity conditions better for early management – so that they can be well informed to proactively take action to relieve tooth sensitivity.

“We understand that the discomfort caused by tooth sensitivity can hold us back from enjoying our life’s small pleasures. As the nation approached a post-pandemic return to normalcy, the #ReclaimLifeSmallPleasures Campaign aims to inspire Malaysians to take control of their oral care and enjoy the little moments they have – be it everyday food exploration, experimentation and experience – without worrying about tooth sensitivity. After all, life is too short for tooth sensitivity,” said Bryan Wong, General Manager of GSK Consumer Healthcare Malaysia.

A recent study by GSK Consumer Healthcare and Ipsos examining how COVID-19 impacted consumer behaviour around their own oral healthcare finds that the decreased frequency of dental visits during the pandemic was the biggest driver in changing oral healthcare habits among consumers in Southeast Asia during this period.

The survey also goes on to find that only less than a quarter of all respondents (23%) claim to use condition-specific toothpastes to manage specific oral-health conditions that they suffer
from.

The Southeast Asia & Taiwan (SEAT) Quantitative Research conducted by GSK Consumer Healthcare has also revealed that at least 7 out of 10 Malaysians are suffering from tooth sensitivity. Among the tooth sensitivity sufferers in Malaysia, 39% are aware of their condition, while another 32% experienced sensitivity symptoms but are unaware of the condition.

There are a range of things that can trigger a twinge or tooth sensation for people with sensitive teeth. The Southeast Asia & Taiwan (SEAT) Quantitative Research also showed that most tooth sensitivity sufferers experience discomfort in their teeth when they are brushing their teeth (38%), from food getting caught between gum and denture (33%), eating or drinking cold (58%), hot (23%), sweet (31%), acidic or sour (29%), and spicy (15%) food and drinks.

In an effort to drive tooth sensitivity awareness on a national scale, Sensodyne’s #ReclaimLifeSmallPleasures Campaign will roll out in stages from January 2022, with a variety of infotainment and educational contents from healthcare professionals, social creators and influencers; served through multiple platforms including Sensodyne Malaysia’s portal and social media channels, traditional and digital media platforms. Samples of Sensodyne Repair & Protect Deep Repair toothpaste will also be made available at up to 1,000 dental clinics nationwide.

From now until 31st January 2022, GSK Flagship Store on Shopee will be running a special promotion at only RM10.00 for each pack of Sensodyne Repair & Protect Deep Repair toothpaste. On top of that, with a minimum spend of RM35 for all Sensodyne products, consumers will receive additional 10% OFF and RM5 ShopeeFood vouchers too. The Sensodyne Repair & Protect Deep Repair toothpaste is also available at pharmacies, dental clinics, minimarkets, supermarkets and hypermarkets across Malaysia.
