Shake Shack Malaysia Goes Steakhouse With Bold New Burger, Fries & Tiramisu Shake

Shakeft

TLDR

  • Shake Shack Malaysia introduces a new steakhouse-inspired menu featuring the Steakhouse Burger, Steakhouse Fries, and a rich, distinctive Tiramisu Shake.
  • All Shake Shack outlets in Malaysia are now officially halal-certified by JAKIM, making it easier for Muslim customers to enjoy their meals with greater confidence.
  • An exclusive collaboration with bATIKTEKTURA also introduces batik-inspired merchandise influenced by local culture, adding a distinctly Malaysian touch to this global brand.

Shake Shack Malaysia is expanding its menu with a new steakhouse-inspired line-up, alongside a dessert shake and a Malaysia-exclusive batik merchandise collaboration. The launch also marks a significant milestone for the brand, with all its local outlets now officially halal-certified by JAKIM.

We recently dropped by to try the full spread, the Steakhouse Burger, loaded fries, and the Tiramisu Shake, and here’s how it all stacks up.

Steakhouse Burger: rich & saucy

The Steakhouse Burger (RM32) takes the familiar Shake Shack formula and pushes it in terms of a deeper and smokier flavour. At its core is the same well-executed smashed beef patty, juicy with those signature crispy edges, but everything around it is ramped up.

There’s a noticeable shift the moment you bite in. The white cheddar brings a sharper, slightly saltier edge than the usual American cheese, while the sautéed portobello mushrooms add an earthy depth that leans into steakhouse territory. Crispy fried onions layer in texture, giving each bite a satisfying crunch that breaks up the richness.

Then there’s the horseradish peppercorn mayo. It’s the defining element, creamy but with a punchy, peppery bite that lingers. It gives the burger a bit of boldness, cutting through the heavier elements while also amplifying the overall flavour.

It might be a touch intense for those who prefer milder flavours, but it’s exactly what makes this burger stand out from your usual fast-casual orders.

Steakhouse Fries: messy comfort food

If the burger is the headline act, the Steakhouse Fries (RM19) are the supporting act that nearly steals the show.

Built on Shake Shack’s classic crinkle-cut fries, this version comes loaded with horseradish peppercorn mayo, applewood-smoked streaky beef, and fresh scallions.

The smoked beef adds a salty, slightly sweet depth that plays well against the creamy sauce, while the scallions cut through with just enough freshness. The same horseradish mayo from the burger makes another appearance, tying the whole steakhouse theme together and giving the fries a distinctive kick.

Tiramisu Shake: a sweet & caffeinated end

After all that savoury heaviness, the Tiramisu Shake (RM30) steps in as a surprisingly fitting finale.

It leans fully into dessert territory, blending mascarpone, coffee, and vanilla frozen custard into a thick, creamy drink that’s closer to a liquid dessert than a typical shake. The coffee notes are present but not overpowering, giving it just enough bitterness to balance the sweetness. Meanwhile, the topping, ladyfinger crumbles and a dusting of cocoa, adds a textural contrast.

If anything, it works best as a shared treat, especially after a meal this heavy.

More than a new menu

Beyond the food, this launch carries weight for other reasons. Shake Shack Malaysia’s halal certification across all its outlets is a significant step, opening the brand to a broader audience while providing greater dining confidence for Muslim customers.

At the same time, the collaboration with bATIKTEKTURA adds a distinctly Malaysian layer to the rollout. The limited-edition merchandise, featuring contemporary batik designs inspired by burger motifs, traditional patterns, and local flora, feels like a thoughtful nod to cultural identity. It’s a subtle but meaningful way of localising a global brand.

Our verdict

The Steakhouse menu doesn’t reinvent Shake Shack, but it pushes the brand into slightly bolder territory. The burger leans rich and full-flavoured, the fries deliver on indulgence, and the shake provides a well-rounded, sweeter finish.

This isn’t everyday fare, it’s heavier, a bit more premium, and better suited for when you’re in the mood to indulge.

More importantly, the launch reflects where Shake Shack Malaysia is heading: a stronger local presence, wider accessibility through halal certification, and a growing willingness to experiment beyond its core menu.
