So, What's New With The iPhone 8 And iPhone X? We List Them Down

The wait is finally over, ladies and gentleman!

Early Wednesday morning, everyone's favourite tech company Apple introduced three brand new iPhones: the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the super premium iPhone X (pronounced as 'iPhone Ten').

The three phones are a complete redesign of the iPhone, featuring sleek glass backs and an almost bezel-less display.
The phones will succeed the the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus range, adding more features as well as upgraded hardware to the line.
So, how much would it cost you? Well, the good news is, it wasn't as much as we initially thought. The iPhone 8 will go for USD699 (RM2,938) while the iPhone 8 Plus will set you back USD799 (RM3,356).
The star of the show, the iPhone X, costs USD999 (RM4,199).
The three phones will be available for pre-order on 15 September, and will officially go on sale on 22 September. However, there's no news on local availability yet, so just hang in there, guys.
In case you're wondering what's new with this year's line up, we took the time to come up with a list of it's best features:

1) Unlock your phone with your face
The Samsung Galaxy S8 first introduced the Iris Scanner which enables its users to unlock the phone by scanning their eyes, but the people at Apple has taken it a step further: you can unlock your new iPhone X with your face! Called the Face ID, it uses a built-in infrared camera, flood illuminator and a dot projector that reportedly projects over 30,000 dots to map your facial features. Not only that, the Face ID is 'attention aware' too; meaning that it can tell when you want to unlock your phone, so you won't accidentally unlock your phone while you're checking out your notifications. However, this nifty feature is only available on the iPhone X. Sorry.

2) Wires be gone

After years and years of speculation, the technology Appleheads want the most is here: you can now (finally!) charge your phone wirelessly. The glass back of the new iPhones enables wireless charging, so all you need to do now is to just place your phone on a charging pad and it will automatically charge up. Not only that, according to this report by tech site BGR, the new phones support fast-charging as well. Apparently, you can charge up your phone from 0-50 per cent in less than 30 minutes. About time, Apple!

3) More juice under the hood

A new iPhone is not a new iPhone without a new chip, right? This time around, Apple introduced the brand new A11 Bionic processor, topped with a 64-bit six-core CPU, two high-performance cores and four energy-efficient cores. As usual, the brand new chip is faster and more powerful than its predecessor. To be specific, the A11 chip in the new iPhones is reportedly 70 per cent faster than the A10, which means faster loading time and smoother graphics.

4) Next level portrait mode

If you're one of those people who always run out of storage space because you take a gazillion photos, this new feature will be your new best friend. The iPhone 8 Plus comes with a brand new feature called Portrait Lighting. How it works is, you take a photo like you normally do, and when you turn on the Portrait Mode, the camera will create a depth map and seperates you from the background. Then, the camera will detect 'facial landmarks' such as your nose, chin and cheekbones, and then it will adjust the lighting on all of them, giving you that supermodel photo shoot look everytime. You can even select from multiple lighting effects from your Camera app itself. Next level selfies, here we come!

5) You can turn yourself into a poop emoji

Like, literally! With the new iPhones, Apple has also introduced the Animoji: a set of 12 animated emoji found on the iPhone. Using the phone's face-scanning feature of the iPhone X, it will map your face and create custom 3D versions of the emoji based on your facial expressions. This feature is available directly in the Messages app itself, and in case you're wondering, yes, you can turn yourself into a turd. What a time to be alive, right?
