The Spectacular Wonder Of Infinity Day

Hello Writer 10/08/2020 | 10:39 MYT

“To infinity and beyond!” - Buzz Lightyear

It looks like Buzz Lightyear caught hold of something we haven’t! Ok, many of us may not be familiar with Infinity Day. Heck, some of us didn’t know it existed. So, why do people elsewhere celebrate it and what actually is being celebrated? Well, let’s get to it.
Infinity Day also known as International and Universal Infinity Day is a time of the year that is dedicated to the celebration of Philosophy, Art, Science and Life. Plus, by taking a closer look, you would notice that the infinity symbol is similar to the number eight when it’s inverted. It could be the reason why it is always celebrated on the 8th day of the 8th month every year.

Now, let’s take a look at the man who originated this significant celebration.

Jean-Pierre Ady Fenyo is a philosopher, poet, journalist, and science-fiction author who is better known as The Original New York City Free Advice Man (see The New Yorker magazine’s August 17, 1987 issue) back in 1987. This man is known to be a celebrity back in the day who sits by the sidewalk and offers free advice to all the people who approach him.
Now, isn’t that interesting…Wouldn’t say it’s a common thing that we would do, right?

“That’s a good backstory…but why is so significant”, a question that some of you might already be asking. Well, the simple goal is this…to promote Philosophy and Philosophising for everyone in the world. “Well, then it’s not for me.” Whoa, whoa, whoa…hold on a second. Knowingly and unknowingly, every human being has a simple philosophy they live by regardless if it applies to all people or just themselves.

YES, REALLY! As time passes by, we human beings begin to see all the world has to offer and what lies beyond our world thanks to the advancement of technology. Duhhhh! So, apart from what is already visible to the naked eye, we also look into the things that are invisible. FYI, this happens when we bring up questions or opinions like these:

“Have you ever wondered how the universe came to be?”

“I believe that aliens have invaded the earth. I mean, look at all the signs!”
“What is the meaning of a good life?”
“Do we exist with limitations or are our true strengths left undiscovered?”

Sometimes, it doesn’t have to be questions as deep as those above. The simplest opinion or debate over certain matters can tell sooooo much. This day that we celebrate sets its purpose to encourage each one to be brave in voicing their opinions and perceptions over anything.
Whilst some can, others have self-doubt. One of the factors for not allowing a person to voice out is often the consciousness of one’s level of qualification and the level of knowledge to offer. There is a fear of being degraded, insulted or even being rejected and it shouldn’t be that way. While the truth to the matter remains a mystery until it’s certain for sure, the possibilities are always endless. That includes your perceptions and opinions too!
So, don’t stop pursuing the depths of origin. If you can’t take it by our words, take it from one of the smartest men on the planet...and he said:
