There'll Be A Beauty Pageant For Women With Physical Challenges In Malaysia

So far, we have been exposed to many types of beauty pageants, whether locally or internationally. These beauty pageants often highlight women with outstanding beauty both inside and out.

But what about women who don't necessarily look like the Miss World and Miss Universe we see donning glamorous evening gowns and shiny tiaras, waving their hands in the most graceful way and talking about world peace?

This is where Miss Amazing Malaysia plans to change the game by redefining beauty pageants.

The first of its kind in the country, Miss Amazing Malaysia is a pageant specifically for women with differences, like Down Syndrome and vitiligo.

Miss Amazing Malaysia founder and national director Maynicca Dewi Rajamanikam told The Star that this pageant will give this women the opportunity to take on new challenges and learn from industry professionals like certified trainers, fashion designers, beauty brands, catwalk and modelling agencies, and more.

There will also be other relevant self-development programmes for the women to participate in.

"It occurred to me that not all women have access to these platforms, especially those who are differently-abled," she added, after sharing her own experiences being involved in the world of pageants.

This unique pageant is open to Malaysian women between the ages 18 and 36. Those who are interested can attend the auditions to be held at LOKA Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on 7 October.

Of course, since this pageant will be unlike any other conventional beauty pageants, there will be medical doctors and occupational therapists present to make sure that the participants are in optimum health.

The finalists for the first ever Miss Amazing Malaysia will be contending for various subsidiary titles like Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic, Miss Charity, Miss Amazing Talent, Miss Best Catwalk and Miss Best Attitude.
