Two Friends Who Met On Facebook Get Married Via A Zoom Meeting Despite Not Having Met Each Other Before

In today’s time and age, where technology is advanced, a couple can get married online even if they haven’t met each other.

We're not kidding. A couple from two different countries actually did this.

According to a report in several news outlets, Ayse from the United Kingdom and Darrin from the United States met at a Facebook group aimed at pairing up individuals from around the world.

Distance and immigration issues can't keep them apart

They met through Darrin’s mother, Kenda, 56, via the Facebook group after she mentioned that she had a son close to Ayse’s age.

The couple then connected with each other and started communication beginning July 2020.

“I was only looking for a pen pal to cure boredom in lockdown and didn’t think I’d find love.

“We have so much in common, including both being terrified of thunder and lightning, and both having owl tattoos with blue eyes.

“I’m not a flirty person, but it came so naturally when I was chatting to Darrin — we got on so well straight away,” Ayse was quoted as saying.

Slightly over a year later, Ayse and Darrin got married via Zoom. The simple wedding ceremony was witnessed by close family and friends.

“I don’t think anyone expected this when we started talking last year.

“But we’re married and it’s all completely legal and official — I still can’t believe it,” she said.

According to a report in New York Post, the couple tried to meet each other before the wedding, but couldn't due to immigration issues.

Darrin decided to propose online instead and the couple ended up getting married virtually, where they met.

All the best to the couple!
