Malaysians love their roti canai, hence why we have so many varieties.

We have our roti jantan, our two-meter roti tisu, the crowd-favourite roti telur, the fishy roti sardin and many others.

However, a food vendor from Negeri Sembilan has created a new type of roti canai - one that's not for the faint of heart.

Introducing the 'Roti Telur Biawak'

Using his creative touch, Kamarul Rizal Kamarudin, also known as 'Abang Terbang' for his ’flying’ roti canai, has whipped up a lizard-shaped roti canai which he dubbed the 'Roti Telur Biawak'.

Yep, for those who are afraid of cicaks and lizards, this one's not for you.

(Fun fact: the fear of reptiles is known as herpetophobia)

But before you throw your smartphone away in disgust, let us reassure you that the 'Roti Telur Biawak' does not contain any lizard meat or its eggs; it just comes in a shape of a lizard, that's it.

Kamarul, who has been making different types of roti canai for the past 22 years, told Malay Mail that he only made the lizard-shaped roti canai because one of his TikTok followers requested him to.

“I made it just to show one of my followers that it’s possible to make the 'Roti Telur Biawak'," he was quoted as saying.

Kamarul uploaded a short clip of him making the 'Roti Telur Biawak' onto his TikTok account, and it has gone viral, raking in more than 996,000 views to date.

Not for sale

Here's the bummer: don't expect him to put the special roti on his menu though, because it's just a one-time thing.

“I won’t be selling it to my customers as it requires a lot of work unless they are my followers and request for it to be served at the restaurant,” he added.

Despite that, many netizens have requested for him to make the 'Roti Telur Biawak' a permanent fixture in his menu as it is unique and creative.

Will 'Abang Terbang' fulfil their requests? Only time will tell.
