The past couple of days, the Klang Valley has been experiencing the fury of Mother Nature in the form of heavy rain and violent thunderstorms.

We may not know how chaotic the thunderstorms are because we're confined in the safety of our own homes, but they are pretty violent and pretty devastating:

And if you need more convincing, check out the video below.

A harrowing experience

A video clip showing a building’s glass windows exploding into pieces during a heavy thunderstorm has gone viral on social media.

In the eight-second clip shared by Twitter user @jayyidkhairir, a group of people can be seen taking shelter in the lobby of the Akademi Etiqa building, while heavy rain and strong winds wreak havoc outside.

All of a sudden, without warning, one of the glass windows shattered, sending shards of glass into the building as a group of woman scurrying away for safety.

Here's the dramatic scene:

According to @jayyidkhairir, the video was sent to him by his wife, who works in the building.

Thankfully, his wife is safe and she had just left the building when the incident happened, he tweeted.

@jayyidkhairir shared a couple of photos of the aftermath, and it does look like something out of an end-of-the-world action flick:

Netizens who saw the video clip were pretty stunned by the incident, judging by their reaction on the social media site:

No injuries reported

Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident, Etiqa said in a statement posted on their official Facebook page.

They confirmed that the Akademi Etiqa building suffered some damages due to the thunderstorm.

“We would like to confirm that due to heavy downpour and strong winds this evening, the Akademi Etiqa building located at Jalan Melaka in the Kuala Lumpur city centre has suffered some damage.

“Thankfully, there are no injuries reported and our branch is open tomorrow for business as usual,” the statement reads.

What an experience it must have been, right? We are glad that everyone's is A-OK!
