The issue went viral and netizens even launched a petition to have her removed from her Board of Directors post at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
Recently, the FashionValet co-founder has decided to fight back by filing a defamation lawsuit against a netizen who allegedly started the slander.
An end to the drama?
According to The Star, the defendant, 28-year old Alia Najwa Hassannudin, was served with the lawsuit after she wrongly accused the business mogul for questioning the government's initiative in providing aid to the B40 and M40 groups.Alia claimed that Vivy belittled both the groups in a video she uploaded by saying that they were making no contributions to the country.
However, Vivy rebutted the claims, saying that she has never said those things or even mentioned the B40 and M40 groups in the video.
The video was a conversation between four entrepreneurs, including Datuk Seri Raymond Liew.
As a result, Vivy says that the statement were made with malice and has her personal and professional reputation as a member of the UiTM board of directors was badly affected.
The dUCk Scarves founder is demanding for general, aggravated and exemplary damages, as well as a a court order for the defendant to take down the statements and issue an apology.
Netizens respond to the issue
Following the news of the lawsuit, netizens were divided on whether Vivy made the right decision to sue the netizen. Some said that it was Vivy’s right to do so and some even offered to help fund Alia with her legal fees.

Lawsuits aren't cheap. Perhaps her business wasn't so badly hit by the pandemic. https://t.co/JGY4CvGiAe
I want to be rich. But not if it means that I'll turn out like Vivy Yusof.

She uses her influence to exploit and oppress. She doesn't have A SINGLE PERSON in her social circle to stop her from abusing her wealth.
I'd rather God let me stay poor, but surrounded by good people. https://t.co/UDlKHcpafd

Netizen golongan B40 M40 juga la dia saman. Kenapa dia tak saman Rizalman sekali? Rizalman pun kecam dia. Kenapa, takut? Takut company jatuh sebab Rizalman’s huge influence in fashion industry? Vivy Yusof is such a joke. https://t.co/LkasNfPvCz

I don't choose to side Vivy Yusof but if you read with logic sense the case, its not about "money can buy everything". Its about if you do shit you will get shit. Spreading lies in the web of course dia saman i'll do the same tho
