We Stayed at ASAI Gamuda Cove, Here's Why It Might Be the Perfect Hotel for a Family Getaway

AI Brief

  • ASAI Gamuda Cove is the first ASAI hotel in Malaysia, located near KLIA with 280 rooms and local-themed decor throughout the property.
  • The hotel offers family-friendly rooms, an infinity pool with wetland views, a gym, co-working spaces, and a buffet breakfast featuring local favourites.
  • Guests can explore nearby attractions like Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, SplashMania water park, and Discovery Park for various outdoor activities suitable for all ages.

Planning a family getaway sounds fun, until you realise keeping the kids entertained is practically a holiday in itself. While there's nothing wrong with relaxing by the hotel pool, it doesn't always go according to plan. One minute the kids are splashing around happily; the next, they're hungry, bored, or already asking what else there is to do.

That's why hotels with activities beyond the usual swimming pool can be such a game-changer for family holidays.

We recently attended the grand opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove, and it got us thinking: could this be the kind of getaway where both parents and children have plenty to look forward to?

The first ASAI hotel in Malaysia and the brand's largest property to date

Located about 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), ASAI Gamuda Cove features 280 rooms, making it the largest property in the ASAI portfolio to date. It is also the first ASAI hotel in Malaysia.

As we stepped into the hotel, several elements immediately caught our eye. Both the reception and self-check-in areas feature impressive artworks by a local artist that capture elements synonymous with Malaysia. The lobby ceiling also features artwork inspired by the traditional looms used for weaving songket.

These local touches can also be found throughout the hotel, from batik-inspired wall displays to gasing-themed decorative features in the dining area.

Well-decorated and comfy rooms with scenic views

Our Biggy Bunk King room exceeded expectations. It features one king-sized bed and two single beds, making it ideal for small families or groups of friends who want to stay together without fighting over sleeping arrangements.

The room also comes with a cosy seating area by a large window overlooking the surrounding area. The shower and toilet are separated, making it more convenient for multiple guests sharing the room.

Our favourite room, however, was the Roomy & Roomy Balcony. While the room itself isn't quite as spacious as the Biggy Bunk King, the stunning wetland views more than make up for it.

ASAI Gamuda Cove also offers other accommodation options, including the Comfy room with a double bed, the Comfy Balcony, and a Family Room designed for larger groups.

Hotel facilities

Of course, no family getaway feels complete without some time by the pool. At ASAI Gamuda Cove, however, the experience comes with a bonus: an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands.

The hotel also features a gym for guests who want to keep up with their fitness routines during their stay, as well as spacious, well-lit co-working areas.

Our stay at ASAI Gamuda Cove also included complimentary breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, Nasi & Khao. The hotel offers an extensive buffet spread featuring favourites such as nasi lemak, a DIY noodle station, roti canai, an egg station, and a wide selection of desserts and pastries.

Wetland adventures that leave you wanting more

One of the highlights of our stay was exploring the Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands and visiting the Wetlands Arboretum Centre (WAC). The safari truck ride was definitely one of the most memorable parts of the experience.

Our stop at the WAC was both fun and informative. Here, we learned how the building was constructed using recycled and natural materials. What impressed us most was discovering that the WAC's roof was made using recycled milk carton boxes.

We were also introduced to the flora and fauna that call the wetlands home. On top of that, we got to browse products and books created by members of the local Temuan indigenous community.

We also had the opportunity to taste and help prepare several traditional dishes at the WAC. Our favourite was the Ayam Semomok, a special Temuan dish typically prepared for guests. The marinated chicken is cooked inside bamboo before being served with cassava.

While the ride through Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands was a little bumpy, the visit to the Crocodile Farm was well worth it. Although we spotted more than 10 crocodiles during our visit, we were told there are approximately 70 crocodiles at the facility, all rescued by PERHILITAN. We also witnessed a live crocodile-feeding session, which takes place on weekends and public holidays for visitors.

Beyond the Crocodile Farm, we also got to feed two hippos while learning interesting facts about the animals. Guests can also enjoy a boat ride across one of the wetlands' largest lakes. Meanwhile, fishing enthusiasts can even book a slot and try their luck catching some of the giant freshwater fish found in the area.

Besides the Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands and WAC, ASAI Gamuda Cove is also located close to SplashMania, where guests can experience Malaysia's steepest water slide, a life-sized pirate-themed ship, and various attractions for all ages. Nearby Discovery Park also offers thrilling activities such as RUD Karting, archery, and rope courses.

Our verdict

ASAI Gamuda Cove offers a comfortable stay complemented by a wide range of activities suitable for all ages, making it an appealing option for family getaways.

Whether you're travelling with young children, teenagers, or even grandparents, the hotel's convenient location and proximity to attractions such as SplashMania and Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands make it easy to fill an entire weekend with memorable experiences.

For those interested in booking a stay, ASAI Gamuda Cove is currently offering its New Opening Adventures package until 31 December 2026 to celebrate its debut in Malaysia.
