The world's longest water slide is finally set to open in just a couple of weeks' time and it is located at our very own homegrown.

Penang's Escape Theme Park is now home to a 1.1km-long water slide that made it into the Guiness World Record (GWR).

Not only did the tube receive an official certification, it beat the previous record holder by more than three times in length, according to The Star.

Can your heart take it?
The not-so-faint-hearted ones will be thrilled to slide down from 70m above ground (equivalent to the height of a 23-storey building), past a forested land and splash into a swimming pool.

If you think you can handle it, you will be taken through 20 turns, five loops at an average speed of 15kph, which will take approximately four and a half minutes to reach the end.

The trees will hear lots of screaming.
But in order to get to the top, don't worry, you don't have to walk all the way up because there will be a ski lift to transport you from the foot of the hill.

How exciting!

Looks like we'll be flying into the water.
This water slide is part of an expansion of Escape Theme Park, which also includes the Hill Rider and Tubby Racer attractions.

The great thing about this is that the opening came just in time before Visit Malaysia 2020 next year.

So start planning your short getaway to Penang this October when the new water slide meets the public!
