A 10-year-old student in Johor Bahru is believed to have been a victim of bullying by an older student.

According to a report, the bullying allegedly stemmed from dissatisfaction after the victim's 12-year-old sister rejected another student's love confession.

According to the victim's mother, Siti Suhana Misdi, 39, the incident occurred back in February. Her son, who is also a cancer patient, was reportedly hit, kicked, and had his head bashed by the 12-year-old perpetrator. Shockingly, the victim was also forced to strip.

Suhana said she only learned about the incident in March when her daughter revealed everything to her.

“My son received treatment at a private hospital in March. The doctor confirmed he had a concussion. My daughter told me about the bullying because she was concerned for her brother’s wellbeing,” she said.

It is understood that a police report was lodged on the same day the victim was discharged.

However, Suhana expressed disappointment after being informed that it was not possible to open an investigation due to the perpetrator being underage.

She said the only action taken was a meeting arranged between her family and the perpetrator’s family.

“I was left dissatisfied. My son’s injury has had lasting effects. His concussion makes it difficult for him to focus in class and participate in sports. The doctor also said it could take up to three years for him to recover, and he has to rely on medication. There’s also a risk of seizures if he falls or faints,” she added.

In early August this year, Suhana revealed that her son had once again become a victim of bullying, although the cause remains unclear.

“I’m not sure why my son was targeted again. Is it because he’s seen as weak due to his cancer?” Suhana said.

According to her, her son was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. Thankfully, he is now 80% recovered and only experiences mild symptoms after receiving appropriate treatment.

Meanwhile, Johor State Education and Information Committee Chairman Aznan Tamin and the Johor State Education Department (JPN) are reportedly taking further action after receiving complaints from the victim’s family.
