Over the weekend, an 11-year-old boy won a challenge organised by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

And this time, another teenager has made the country proud.

Two medals in the bag

According to a report by The New Straits Times, 13-year-old Syahzan Imran Putra Khairil Anuar Hisham won two bronze medals at the World Chefs Championship held at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium in Alor Star on Monday (16 December).

Syahzan, a student from SMK Syed Mohamed Al-Bukhary, won the two medals in the Chicken Main Course and Salmon categories, as well as the Jury Award for a promising young participant.

That's actually pretty impressive!

Syahzan told the daily that his father, who is a professional chef, encouraged him to take part in the competition.

Even more impressive, he revealed that he underwent training for just two weeks before taking part in the competition.

"My father taught me how to handle the equipment and cooking basics,” he was quoted as saying.

Syahzan also said that the win was meaningful to him because he had to compete against more experienced participants from all over the world.

Trained for only two weeks, went up against experienced cooks and won two medals? Definitely a making of the next great chef.
