As the flood begins to subside in many affected parts of the country, unfortunately, dead bodies are slowly turning up one by one.

The figure has now reached double figures.

Deadly figures

Bernama reported that to date, 14 bodies have been recovered with eight found in Selangor and six in Pahang.

Meanwhile, four people are still reported missing in the Bentong floods.

The report quoted Selangor police chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed as saying that four deaths were recorded in Shah Alam, two in Kajang and one each in Sungai Buloh and Sepang.

The body of a man in his 30s was belived to be the first drowning victim found at the main entrance to the Alam Idaman Apartment in Section 22 in Shah Alam.

Three drowning victims were also found in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis was also quoted in the report as saying that two male victims were found in Dengkil, one body was found in Sepang and another body was found in Desa Coalfields, Kuala Selangor.

Meanwhile in Pahang, 38 -year-old factory operator M.Gunalan became the first casualty in the state after his body was found about 100 meters away from the location he was reported to have fallen while trying to ride his motorcycle in the flood.

The second victim was a man who was reported missing after he was said to have tried to drive his Proton Exora car in the flood water near Kampung Cempaka with a friend before the vehicle became stranded.

Meanwhile, the bodies of three women and one man, believed to be from a group of five individuals who were reported missing in the mud floods in Telemong, were also found by a search and rescue team.

Let's hope the number doesn't continue to climb.
