21 Terengganu Teachers Tested Positive For COVID-19 After Attending Seminar

As we are experiencing the second wave of the Movement Control Order, or also known as MCO 2.0, a lot of things that were previously done physically had to be done virtually now, including classes and events.

In order to prep for online learning sessions, a group of primary school teachers in Terengganu gathered physically to attend a workshop.

However, things took a turn for the worst when 21 of them tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Astro Awani, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Sulaiman 1 in Kuala Terengganu was ordered to close for 14 days after eight positive COVID-19 cases were detected there on 22 January.

And not too long after, SK Paloh received the same order to close down too.

Buletin Utama also reported that 10 more schools were closed on 24 January after 21 teachers tested positive after attending a workshop to prepare them for online teaching last week at Sekolah Kebangsaan Sultan Sulaiman 1.

Netizens were shocked to hear the news and were also angered that such gatherings were still taking place during the pandemic and MCO.

Let this be a lesson for everyone and we hope everyone regardless of their status and age will adhere to SOPs set by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
