24-Year-Old ‘Abang Bas’ Arrested After Posting About His Primary School ‘Crush’ Passenger on TikTok
A school bus driver has been arrested over alleged pedophilic behaviour. The 24-year-old male driver had more than 600K followers on his TikTok account, which went by ‘Abang Bus’, where he posted videos of driving primary school children and filming them. However, it was his captions which made the videos truly disturbing.
According to our checks, his account was deactivated/deleted at the time of writing. However, X user @JatIkhwan has brought light to the issue, with his tweet receiving more than 8.2M views. “Many have spoken up about this suspicious TikTok account with more than 600K followers. The captions don’t sit right with me. You don’t post (about) someone’s daughter who’s still in primary school with the caption ‘Today our crush is doing homework’. Not only that, he’s recording a minor.”
The user also shared screenshots from Abang Bas’ X account, which included a video of him staring at a young girl wearing a tudung with a backpack with the caption, “She’s shy”, which received a mind-boggling 41.2K likes. Another screenshot with 31.2K likes also showed the faces of some minors partially with the caption, “Who woke up my love? (with an angry face emoji)."
The user also tagged the X accounts of Polis Diraja Malaysia, Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Fahmi Fadzil, Communications Minister, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
They also shared a picture which parents can use to educate their children.
Another X user replied that they were shocked that in another video, the bus driver woke the child by holding her lips. “Even though I am a woman, I don’t touch people’s children as I like.”
Nancy Shukri quickly responded with a tweet that read, “This behaviour is not accepted and shouldn’t be normalised. I have instructed the officers from Jabatan Pembangunan Kanak-Kanak (JPKK) to file a police report immediately, and we are ready to cooperate with D11 IPK Johor (Women and Children’s Sexual Investigation Division of the Police Contingent Headquarters).”
The police take action
As reported by NST, state police chief Commissioner M Kumar said the driver was arrested in Simpang Renggam at 2:57 am. His mobile phone was also seized. In a statement today, Kumar said, "We urge the parents of the child in the video to step forward and assist in investigations."
He said the case was being probed under Section 15 (a) (iii) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act for constantly following or watching a child by any means. In addition, the bus driver is also being investigated under Section 15(2) of the Child Act for publishing a child's photo electronically. If found guilty of both offences, the bus driver can face up to 15 years in jail and fined up to RM30,000 or both.
Kumar also advised parents to monitor their children for any signs of emotional distress or physical abuse.
We hope that this case will be investigated thoroughly!
