It's always a good thing to set boundaries with people, especially when you're interacting online. But one Malaysian man had to endure half a decade of nightmares after a woman refused to respect his wishes.

The man, known as Zulhelmi, shares how he had been a victim of stalking by a woman who went as far as claiming the two were married.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Zulhelmi was firmly asking his stalker to leave after she allegedly interrupted him as he was working on an assignment at the IIUM Gombak library.

According to Zulhelmi, who is a lecturer at a private institution called Ahlan Academy, his stalker, known as Abidatul, has suddenly come to the library to ‘discuss’ something with him.

“This incident happened on 14th January 2025. This mentally unstable woman disturbed me at the library. The video shows me chasing her out as she was bothering my work,” Zulhelmi wrote in the caption.

“She suddenly appeared, pretending to want to have a ‘discussion’ with me over something. But I've told her thousands of times that I'm not interested, and I won't let her follow me on Instagram.”

Zulhilmi also added that Abidatul had always been an introverted woman and the two never exchanged more than a couple of pleasantries. He also denied having ever given Abidatul any form of hint that he was into her.

It all began back in 2020 when Zulhelmi removed her from his Instagram followers

According to Zulhelmi, things started spiralling in April 2020 after he removed Abidatul from his Instagram followers. Zulhelmi shared he did so after he felt uncomfortable after the woman was always the first to view his Instagram stories.

“Ever since I removed her, she's been harassing me. It's been five years now, soon to be six.”

Although Zulhelmi had blocked the woman, she refused to give up and had allegedly created dozens of fake accounts across social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram & X) just to keep in contact with him.

Things started to get out of control when Abidatul claimed she and Zulhemi were actually married and had spread misinformation online.

Ahlan Academy & a law firm have stepped in to set the record straight

Following the claims, Ahlan Academy had released an official statement in which they had confirmed that Zulhilmi never had any romantic or personal relationship with Abidatul. The two just happened to have attended several university classes together in the past.

“Unfortunately, for the past five years, Abidatul Husna has repeatedly attempted to contact Zulhilmi through various means, including creating multiple social media accounts, spamming comments on Ahlan Academy's social media and direct messages, calling his personal number, emailing and even calling Ahlan Academy's landline,” the statement reads.

Additionally, a law firm had also come up with a statement denying Abidatul's claim that the two were married.
