And the compassion shown by a group of local traffic policemen towards an injured monkey has restored our faith in humanity.
Operation rescue monkey
It was just a typical day for Bukit Aman traffic policeman Corporal Azizi Adnan when he spotted a monkey on KM27.2 of the Silk Highway.Instead of just leaving the poor animal in the middle of the road like we normally would (sorry, poor animals), he immediately got down from his car to investigate.
According to Malay Mail, the 46-year-old was with his two other police traffic colleagues when the incident happened.
Upon closer inspection, he found that the monkey's face and hands were badly bruised.
“Fearing its safety, my two colleagues and I then cordoned off the four main lanes to prevent any harm to the creature,” he was quoted as saying.
However, Azizi couldn't carry the monkey to safety for the fear that the monkey might bite or scratch him, as he wasn't wearing any gloves at the moment.
Thankfully, a good Samaritan who was passing by on a motorcycle offered to carry the monkey as he was wearing gloves.
“So I escorted the motorcyclist who was carrying the monkey until he had placed the monkey on the other side of the road where there were more trees,” he was quoted as saying.
The 46-year-old’s thoughtful act and the motorcyclist's willingness to help a poor animal won praises on social media, after a video of the highway rescue was shared on the Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS Facebook page.
We need more people like Azizi and the unnamed motorcyclist in this world!
