Last month, when the government announced that they are setting up an official donation account named Tabung Harapan Negara aimed at helping to reduce the financial burden of the country, thousands of Malaysians immediately jumped on board and helped raised RM7 million overnight.

This illustrated how Malaysians are willing to sacrifice their own money for the betterment of the country. Perhaps moved by the gesture from the rakyat, Malindo Air decided to chip in by donating RM1 from each ticket sold until 31 August 2018.

And it looks like Malindo Air won’t be the only company donating to the fund as The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) also plans to follow suit.

Matta Fair is held twice each year.
The next Matta Fair is slated to take place at the Putra World Trade Centre from 7-9 September.

Accprding to a statement released by the corporation, Matta Fair plans to donate RM1 for each visitor who visits to the popular travel fair.

“Matta, as Malaysia’s leading travel association is pleased to join other Malaysians in donating to the publicly funded THM to support the cause and strengthening the nation’s financial situation,” says Matta chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng in the statement.

Were you one of the many Malaysians who donated to the Tabung Harapan Negara?
Phua added that the tourism industry in Malaysia is the second highest contributor in the foreign exchange earnings and is the third highest to the gross national income.

Matta Fair receives more than 100,000 visitors at each fair. So, if you’re feeling a bit patriotic and want to contribute too, perhaps you can do so by going to Matta Fair while scoring some cheap travel deals.
