Ahmad Maslan Suggests Nasional Service Be Brought Back And The Government Is Actually Considering It
If you've been for national service or know of someone who's undergone the National Service Training Programme (PLKN), they'll probably have quite a bit (more bad than good) to say about it.
Well, guess what you guys. PLKN maybe making a comeback soon.
Pending approval by the Cabinet
The topic came up during parliament with Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob saying that the government was seriously looking at reviving it.Note to all: The suggestion to reintroduce PLKN was made by Pontian MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.
“Thank you Pontian MP for this suggestion to revive PLKN which was abolished by the previous government in 2018.
“As the programme has proven to shape patriotism among participating youths, the ministry will propose to the Cabinet for the programme to be implemented again,” Ismail Sabri said as reported by Malay Mail.
Prior to this, the PLKN programme was abolished by the PH administration who said that it was "bloated with dubious curriculum and contracts".
We guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
What do you think? Is the reintroduction of PLKN a good idea?
