For some strange reasons, there are still certain groups in Malaysia that are refusing to get vaccinated.

However, those working in the civil sector has gotten their final warning.

Do it or face consequences

All civil servants in Malaysia have been given a deadline of 1 November to complete their vaccination or face disciplinary action, The Star reported.

Based on the data released by the Public Services Department (PSD), 98 per cent of the civil servants in the country have already been vaccinated, but about 16,900 remain unvaccinated.

The PSD further said in a statement quoted by The Star that those who remain unvaccinated past the deadline will be subjected to disciplinary action as stipulated under the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.

PSD said the decision to impose a deadline is in line with the government’s efforts to increase public confidence in returning to normalcy, as well as restore public services to maximum capacity based on the National Recovery Plan (NRP) phases.

Those with health complications are exempted from taking the vaccine, but even then, they must submit their medical reports with verification by a government medical officer to their department heads in order to get the exemption.

If you, or someone you know, are working in the civil sector, considered yourself warned.
