Another 'Ipoh' Sign Thrill-Seeker's Daring Stunt Goes Viral
Another thrill-seeker is back with a daring stunt at the landmark ‘Ipoh’ sign located at the North-South Expressway near Simpang Pulai. Pictures of the man posing on the ledge of the 9.1m tall sign started circulating on social media after he posted evidence of his ‘achievement’ on his Instagram account, @kerabupauh. Photos of his stunt have since been removed from the account, along with a username change.
It is still unknown whether the man, believed to be in his 20s, acted alone or was part of a group. According to Astro Awani, the Ipoh Municipal Council said they will conduct an investigation before issuing a statement on the incident.
This feat follows another similar incident just recently on 31 December last year where a group of eight, aged between 20 to 24, climbed another ‘Ipoh’ sign at Jalan Kuala Kangsar near Gunung Lang. The group also took photos and videos of their dangerous stunt, which went viral on social media. They have since met with the Ipoh mayor Datuk Zamri Man and made a public apology for their action.
