Taekwondo athlete Sara Yap Khim Wen came in third place in the women's individual poomsae event, taking home bronze for the country.

Despite earning a score of 8.300, she was beaten with an 8.430 by the Iranian athlete.

According to the New Straits Times, she had made the difficult decision to defer her studies in order to focus on preparing and training for the games.
She also had one goal in mind -- to make poomsae popular in Malaysia.
"This medal means a lot, especially in this discipline. Poomsae is an up-and-coming sport in Malaysia, so to win something is a great start,” said the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games gold medallist told The Star.
"Hopefully, this will generate more interest for poomsae in Malaysia."
Her decision and effort certainly paid off!
